We are thrilled to introduce our new Program Associate Dani Hunter!

Data, from community health to organizational demographics, plays an integral role in our grantmaking approachBoth qualitative and quantitative data allow us to better understand what our region’s communities and our grantee partners are facing, especially in the time of COVID. With this understanding, we can work towards asking the right questions in the best ways, shift our grantmaking to address current needs and develop community-informed, long-term investment strategies.

Dani Hunter (she/her)Program Associate, will support our grantmaking efforts by assisting data collection and reporting processes, providing project management support and participating in the grant review process. She will help the Program team with grantmaking due diligence and managing external relationships with cross-sector collaborators and community stakeholders.

I’m excited to join Healthy Communities Foundation in uplifting community-led efforts to improve the health and well-being of those in our service region,” said Dani. “Now more than ever, I’m grateful for the opportunity to support grantee partners and community leaders in advancing health equity.”

Before joining the Healthy Communities Foundation team, Dani served as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Legal Council for Health Justice. Upon completing her AmeriCorps service, she joined them full-time as an External Relations Manager working to achieve health justice for all Illinoisans.

“In her role as Program Associate, Dani will increase the capacity of the Healthy Communities Foundation to utilize hyper-local data, support grantee partners and strengthen our grantmaking approach and practice,” said Nora Garcia, Director of Programs. “Ware excited about the expansion of our Program team who bring their lived experience, knowledge of health equity and commitment to the HCF region.”

“I am so pleased to have Dani take on this important role on our team as we continue our journey to achieve health equity with a community-led, data-driven response,” said President Maria Pesqueira.
