As a data-informed foundation, we were aware of the health inequities that communities in our region have faced for generations and the systems that perpetuate them. COVID-19 has deepened these disparities and has disproportionately impacted Black, Latinx and immigrant communities in our region, especially in our Legacy and Equity Zone. The idea that all will go back to “normal” once the stay-at-home order is lifted does not recognize the pervasiveness and long-term impact that COVID-19 will have on these communities.
