Reimagining Mental Health – #ReimagineHealth Series

Our #ReimagineHealth series is a space to highlight how our grantee and community partners are rethinking and reshaping their work and approach to build healthier, stronger communities in our region, given the impact of the COVID pandemic.
As part of the series, three of our grantee partners share how they are reimagining mental health and well-being within their organizations and through their work in community.
Coalition for Spiritual and Public Leadership (CSPL) implemented a spiritual retreat day policy for their staff to take time off to care for themselves first in order to take care of others. Michael Okinczyc-Cruz, Executive Director of CSPL, shares how this policy came to be and its importance to the work of CSPL.
Erie Neighborhood House recently opened a site in Berwyn, the heart of our region, to provide high-quality and culturally affirming services to residents in the area and surrounding communities. Caitlin Sheehan and Rosa Elena Totochenko from Erie Neighborhood House shares why they moved into Berwyn and what reimagining mental health and wellness means to them in this moment.
BUILD Chicago has taken their mental health services on the road to increase access, reduce stigma and grow awareness of its other supportive services in Austin and surrounding communities. Jessica Carrillo and Amanda Cimaroli from BUILD Chicago talked with us about the Mobile Mental Health Van’s impact since last year and how being there for community has taken a whole new meaning.
