Carl Bergetz
Board Chair
Carl Bergetz is the Chief Legal Officer of Rush University System for Health and the General Counsel for Rush University Medical Center. Carl is responsible for litigation management, risk management, institutional insurance programs, internal investigations, university higher education compliance, board governance issues, major corporate transactions, and governmental and regulatory affairs.
Carl previously served as Chief of the Special Litigation Bureau for the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, where he supervised complex investigations and litigation involving government contracting fraud, public integrity, and official misconduct, and constitutional challenges to state statutes. Carl began his legal career with McDermott, Will & Emery, where he focused on antitrust, trade regulation, and consumer fraud matters.
He is a graduate of Stanford University, where he received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science, and the University Of Illinois College Of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and served as Associate Editor of the University of Illinois Law Review.
